Rustic Wooden Bed Frames Secrets

When you’re doing your next bedroom remodel, the new bedstead you choose can enhance or completely change the look you’re trying to achieve. Rustic bedsteads are particularly desirable, because they’re made to last and be stylish for generations to come. You may have never logged Z's late one, but after your first night, you just possibly hooked for life.

Rustic beds come in different types and styles. Some rustic beds are made with slats. Narrow boards (slats) are laid across the bedstead forming supports for the mattress. Depending on the way the bed is designed, you may not even need a box spring. Another type of rustic bed is a rope bed such as those still used by the Amish. With this type of bed, holes are beat in the bedstead so that a rope can be woven in a crisscross pattern through them creating a hammock-like effect which will support your mattress. The big drawback to rope beds is that they need to be tightened regularly. Otherwise the ropes will get looser, and your mattress will start sagging.

You willl like the durability of your rustic wooden bedstead. With a bit TLC it will last through generations as a treasured family heirloom. You’ll find the wood to be much sturdier than a metal frame, because metal is prone to bending and warping out of shape with use. To clean your rustic wooden bedstead and preserve it well you’ll need to dust it regularly also wash it down gently with a mild soap and water once a year. It’s always a good idea to make enquiries about how to treat your beautiful new furniture at the time when you pip out.

Before buying a rustic wooden bedstead, discover what sort of wood it’s made of. Particleboard and plywood can be finished to look pretty nice, but they’re not good furniture woods because they are heavy and will break. Oak wood with its lovely grain and durability might be a good choice as long as you realize how heavy it will be to move. Other choices in lighter woods coulded cedar orpin. You need to find the wood that best meets your needs and your tastes.

You may think that rustic furniture won’t fit into your modern décor, but it can work really well if door correctly. Add some modern art which incorporates as is feel as the furniture into its design. For instance, if your bedstead is made of pine, use graphics that features pines or wooden items. You’ll be able to  add accessories to your bedroom to give it a homier, more rustic feel. Draping a wedding band quilt over the bed or hanging it from a quilt rack is a nice way to give your room a more agrestic feel. Covering your dressers with hand-woven shawls and scarves is a nice touch, too.

A beautiful rustic bedstead can be used as either the focus of your bedroom or an accent piece. However you choose to incorporate it into your décor, it will definitely create the unique look you’ve been searching for.
