Bedroom Furniture – How much do You Really Need?
Many people go a little mad when it comes to buying new bedroom furniture. They often end up buying really large bedroom suites that end up filling almost the entire room. This is not only a complete waste of space; it is a waste of money also. In saying this though, it can prove to be very difficult in trying to estimate how much of this furniture you actually need in the bedroom. There are certain considerations you have to take on board.
First and foremost you have to decide about the bed as this will probably be the biggest piece of furniture in the room. Will you require the bed to be the same size as the one you had? If so you will not have to worry about the added expense of buying extra accessories (sheets, blankets, duvets, etc) for it. If you are looking for a bigger bed though, bear in mind that these accessories will also need to be “upgraded”, adding to the cost. If you do want a bigger, ensure you measure up the apace properly before purchasing. It wouldn’t matter if you had to rearrange some furniture items to accommodate it, but you wouldn’t want to have to change the whole room just for the bed.
Next you will have to look at your storage options. Do you just have enough clothing that a chest of drawers will be ideal, or do you have so much stuff that you would definitely require a wardrobe as well? Whatever the decision, make sure that these too will fit into the bedroom without too much hassle. You could even kill two birds with one stone by purchasing a chest of drawers that doubles up as a TV stand.
But when it comes to a chest of drawers, there are other requirements to think about as well. An example would be the width. Chests of drawers come in a plethora of sizes and designs and whereas some can be narrow and small, others can be wide and large, almost akin to a dressing table. There will also have to be a decision made on the actual number of drawers; while some may only have three or four, others can have as many as ten. Again, this would all probably depend on the amount of items that you needed storing away.
Wardrobes are great storage units such as a 4 door pine wardrobe, especially if you have a lot of garments that needed hanging up. The only problem with wardrobes is that they tend to take up a lot of room as they are large and bulky. There are built-in options, but again, you would have to have the space in place to begin with.
Finally, you may want to look into bedside tables. These are handy little pieces of furniture that many people have, surprisingly enough, next to their beds. These are ideal for putting a glass of water on, or a book that is currently being read
